The Originals Cast Joseph Morgan Joins FOX’s X-Men Pilot Series

It appears that another actor has been added to the cast of Matt Nix’s (Burn Notice) untitled X-Men television series for FOX. Lauren Shuler Donner — a long-time X-Men film producer who is also working on the show — shared an image today on Twitter of the cast during a table read for the pilot and sitting next to Jamie Chung (who will be playing Blink) is Joseph Morgan, who’s best known for his work on The CW series The Originals. It remains to be seen who he is playing on the show.

Matt Nix’s X-Men series, starring Reed and Kate Stewart, played by True Blood’s Stephen Moyer and Angel’s Amy Acker – as they try to protect their children, who are coming into mutant powers, from the government, Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time) as Clarice Fong/Blink, Blair Redford (Switched at Birth) as Sam, Sean Teale (Incorporated) as Marcos Diaz/Eclipse, Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham) as Lauren, Emma Dumont (Pretty Little Liars) as Lorna Dane/Polaris, Percy Hynes White as Andy and Coby Bell (Burn Notice) as Jace Turner, currently has a pilot order at FOX.

Since Morgan hadn’t been confirmed as part of the Gifted cast prior to Donner’s photo, nothing is known about his character, how he will fit into the series, or even whether he’ll be a mutant or not. But, seeing the whole cast come together for the script reading should indicate Gifted is on track for the pilot’s mid-March filming start date as previously reported. Since Fox ordered the show to series, it’s all but guaranteed to make it to air, though an official premiere date has yet to be revealed.

Still, while the broad strokes of the X-Men series’ plot have been revealed, it remains to be seen how Gifted will come together and whether it will prove to be as well received as Legion. Of course, with production seemingly gearing up for the pilot, it may not be too long before we see more behind-the-scenes photos – though it might be some time before any actual footage is released.
